My wife and myself booked here for our 28th wedding anniversary dinner. Tall red headed gentleman served us . His name escapes me but he was very hospitable and attentive . The food was incredible. Oysters were fresh and delicious...ordered 24 with a Ceasar for both of us . We had the hot platter . Every item was well-prepared and delicious. We went full out as we tend to do once a year as a treat . The bill was 350 including tip. Will definitely come back . The oysters were the best we have had . The atmosphere was very relaxed and had a great ambiance. Thanks for the great memory. We decided to stay in Canada this year for vacation and we were not disappointed.

I had a wonderful experience at Whalesbone! The service was great—our server was friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The wine selection was fantastic and paired really well with the meal. The salmon was great. The atmosphere was a little noisy, but that’s expected on a weekend. Overall great!

If you are a lover of seafood, this is the place for you!! This place has everything from a seafood platter, oysters, to seafood chowder. The service was great, the place was decently packed for a Tuesday night, but we managed to get taken care of right when we got sat down. We didn’t wait long to get drinks, food, and the bill. We ended up ordering half a dozen oyster with their hot platter, by the end of it we were stuffed, but the food was worth it! They had a variety of sauces available for their oyster selection; a mignonette, a cocktail sauce, and two different types of in-house made hot sauces, plus a little palate cleanser for after. For their hot platter, they had steamed mussels, a lobster and shrimp roll, bacon wrapped scallops, and a few other things; All this to say that it is worth the money to spend on it, it was delicious! Nothing was overcooked, nothing tasted bland, it was amazing!! Highly recommend this place to people who love a seafood place, they have great options! Needless to say they have great food!

Fresh and delicious seafood served in an unassuming space. We had fantastic and friendly service throughout the meal. The oyster selection was top notch with six different types from both coasts. The chilled seafood platter was amazing, everything was fresh and tasty. The scallops in the strawberry mignonette and the lobster were the standouts. Well worth a stop if you are craving top quality seafood!

I had the pleasure of dining at Whalebone on Elgin Street tonight, and I have to say—it was an absolutely amazing experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The service was fantastic—attentive without and our server made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. Started off with a Moscow mule, which was perfectly balanced—refreshing, with just the right amount of ginger kick. For appetizers, we had the calamari, which was cooked beautifully, tender on the inside with a light, crispy exterior. The real star of the night, though, was the lobster pasta, which we both ordered. The pasta was cooked to perfection, the sauce was rich and flavorful, and the lobster was fresh and generously portioned. Every bite was an absolute delight. To top it all off, I took a leap of faith and tried my first oyster—something I never thought I'd enjoy. But to my surprise, I actually liked it! It was fresh, briny, and had a clean, oceanic flavor that really won me over. Overall, Whalebone delivered on every front—incredible food, outstanding service, and a memorable dining experience. If you're in Ottawa and looking for a seafood spot that truly knows its craft, this is the place to go. Highly recommend!

Always a great time at the Whalesbone! Best place to get oysters & seafood. The oysters are fresh and the staff is very knowledgeable regarding the different types of oysters and taste. The baked oysters are pricey, but absolutely delicious! Hard to go wrong here.

We are in Ottawa for a girls weekend and Whalebone was recommended by a local friend. We were not disappointed, especially with the service. Our server, Jamie (who didn’t tell us his name until we were leaving and asked him) was amazing. Knowledgeable, attentive and just the right amount of friendly. Worth the money. Loud but delicious. Our server was excellent, attentive, and had good recommendations. The food was out of this world. We got some fresh oysters, baked oysters, and hot platter. The mussels were the only thing that did not blow us away, but everything else was a masterpiece of flavor, texture, and presentation. You wouldn't think some humble shrimp would be worth writing home about, right? Wrong. And the carrot cake? So moist and dense and perfectly spiced! It could not be better.
